Lynn Mardell Misner

Battle Creek - Lynn Mardell Misner, 74, of Battle Creek passed away peacefully on Thursday July 22, 2021, with her daughters at her side after a brief illness.

Born September 27, 1946, in Marshall, Michigan, Lynn attended Lakeview schools and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1964. Lynn was a stay at home mom raising four daughters, until 1986 when she began employment at the Battle Creek Federal Center. She retired in 2010 as a Secretary for the Defense Logistics Agency.

Lynn was an avid sports fan and a devoted follower of the Lakeview Spartans, Michigan Wolverines, and Detroit Wings. She would often be found attending her daughters' school and sporting events and was an active member of the Lakeview Boosters Association and Wrestling Mat Club. Lynn was also known to open her home to numerous kids and was considered a second mom by many teens.

Lynn is survived by her four daughters- Shari van der Grijn (Bart), Traverse City; Michele Hughey (Jeff), Pleasant Lake; Danielle Deweese (Brett), Linden; Kristin Harper, Rochester Hills; twelve grandchildren- Jeremy, Joseph, Tyler, Shelby, Carlee, Ries, Erik, Kate, Kyle, Ethyn, Paige, and Vance; three great grandchildren- Trey, Tegan, and Jace; two brothers- Jerry Griffith (Kathy) and Stephen Weers (Marion); two sisters- Linda Tuttle and Kimberly Parrish; and close friends- Sandi Sadowski, Sandy Brinistool, Candy Corbin, and Sheri Rees. She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Griffith in 2004.

A memorial service to celebrate Lynn's life will be held at a later date in August. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in Lynn's honor to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation (; celebrating the pride she had in her daughter Michele's role as a Battalion Chief with the Battle Creek Fire Department.
