John Crofton, Jr.John Harold Crofton, Jr., 75, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Bronson Battle Creek. He was born April 13, 1946 in Battle Creek, the son of John Harold Crofton, Sr. and Barbara (Blair) Bridenstine. John graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1964 and then married Joyce (Poling) Crofton on May14,1966
Jack served for over 20 years in the United States Marine Corps and did two tours in Vietnam. He worked at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center for 20 years and was a true advocate for his fellow veterans. Jack was a lifetime member of the Salvation Army. He was the best storyteller and was known for telling jokes and playing pranks on people; anything for a laugh. Jack never met anyone with whom he didn’t become fast friends. He also loved his wife’s cooking, especially her famous mac and cheese. Jack’s favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends; but he also enjoyed collecting novelty knives and eagle figurines. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by three daughters: Kelly Mitchell, Cynthia Randolph, and Amanda (Michael) Giese; one sister: Tammy Wenzel; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Joyce; one daughter: Tina Crofton; one great granddaughter: Teagan Knight; and two brothers: Richard Crofton and Ted Bridenstine.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM-8:00 PM
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 12:00 PM at the Bachman Funeral Chapel.
Burial will be at the Fort Custer National Cemetery
Memorial tributes may be made to the Battle Creek Salvation Army.
